The Beta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Louisiana Tech University had a cheerful and merry holiday season. With involvement in many national and local charities, Sigma Kappa focused on giving back especially during this season.
Members joined Sigma Kappa’s 1874 Society, which is part of the Sigma Kappa Foundation. The Sigma Kappa Foundation helps sisters across the nation if they ever are put in situation where they are in extreme financial need. As well as donating toiletries to the Main Sea Coast Mission, another one of Sigma Kappa’s main philanthropies. In addition to inner organizations, Beta Epsilon made the largest donation out of all organizations at Tech to the Life Choices program. Sigma Kappa brought various items such as car seats, diapers and baby bottles to donate to the program. Dec. 13, Sigma Kappa participated in Christmas on the Lane, an event put on by the Panhellenic Council for kids in the Ruston community. There were crafts and goodies at each of the houses on the lane and some alumni came with their children to participate in the events. It was a great way for members to catch up with some of the alumni and it also served as a reminder of how fortunate Beta Epsilon is to have such strong alumni support in this area.
Sigma Kappa showed support for the dogs as they made their appearance in the Poinsettia Bowl by handing out good luck candy canes to the players and staff as they got on the buses to start their long journey to San Diego. Five Sigma Kappa members went to support the Bulldogs out west, Christy Morgan, Brittany Lass, Kelsie Smith, Meagan Lee and Meredith Harris showed their Sigma spirit for the dawgs all the way out west.
